Photography as a tool to assist in acceptance of one’s body and change is still working for me. Since “Roar” I have undergone medically induced menopause and breast reconstruction. I have rudimentary nipple-less silicone mounds. These recent images taken at RMAs in Whanganui are a celebration of the infertile, post menopausal breast-less, nipple-less state I now find myself in. I’ve adapted to a new body once again and portraiture has been invaluable in achieving this. My belief that photography has the potential to assist in accepting physical change is reinforced.
